Kachra kondi

kachra kondi is a documentary movie made by renowned social activist Atul Pethe...

I was reading newspaper in the MIT NCC Office, and suddenly i got see a picture of a young boy in a dark black sewage water canal. First thot that struck my mind was -'aisi kya majburi ki itne gande paani mein utarna pada... shayad koi keemti chiz gir gayi hogi'... without going much into the detail I just turned the page... After a few mins, Rushal Sir came to the office and read the complete article - 'mandar, yeh article padha kya tune'... 'nahi sir'... 'padh, bahut achha likha hai'... Iwent thru the article and what i realized, was something quite disturbing... The young boy did not lose anything, he was doing a part of his job... his daily routine... Getting into the sewage water and removing the obstacles preventing the flow of water... A movie based on such workers was to be screened at NFAI the next day... Rushal Sir inspired me and a few others to be at the movie... plan was ready n next day sharp at 11 I was in the office... we were to leave from there together...
12:00 sharp we were at the desired location... to our surprise reema lagoo was also present for the movie... we entered the hall n picked up a seat... 'please tumhi thoda khali hota ka amhala disat nahiye..'... sounded like a voice heard before in a completely unknown place... it dint take time for me to realize it was her- reema lagoo...right behind me...
coming back to the movie... a movie on slum area workers... started with a few standing on the public large dustbins and emptying the waste on a govt garbage carrier... with bare legs and bare hands and open face... A fact which was difficult for me to digest... the movie covered all the aspects of workers, their society, the congested places where they live... the conditions they get in there...n what stops them from progressing... n blah blah... as per norms, a govt employee working in this field should get a pair of gum-boots every year.. a pair of gloves n other things like medication, new equipments etc. every month...But do they get it??? Nope, never... Ex-PMC commissioner Mr Nitin Kareer has to say to this - 'We do spend the amount, allocate resources but we don't have time to check whether it has reached the right person'... Thank you sir we are very grateful to u for spending the amount... These workers are supposed to be provided with free medicines in allotted govt hospitals, but the required medications are never available at the desired site. Guess, where are they available, at the private hospitals of govt doctors... Salutes to the honest govt doctors... When any of such individual suffer from a severe injury or a disease and he/she is incapable of working, there is no govt provision to help him... Either he/she has to leave the job or join in the same condition...
With a meagre pay in hundreds these labours don't even have the capability to educate their children...consequently, even they have to suffer the same...i would request all the readers of this blog to kindly respect such people and their job...
